Crew: Geoff, Eduardo, Tunch, Murray, Pien
Marine Forecast: Southerly 10 knots, easing to variable 5 knots this morning. Northerly 15 knots developing this afternoon, and rising to 20 knots gusting 30 knots about the south coast this evening. Sea becoming moderate in the south this evening. Fair visibility in showers, clearing to long fine spells this afternoon.
Departed Chaffers at 1025 hrs and with around 5 knots southerly motor-sailed with No. 1 Genoa and Main round to Evans Bay where Murray and Pien joined us. Race course was confirmed as Start – 1 – 2 – 3 – Finish x 3 laps. All classes starting together with warning at 1255 hrs.
We set sail early to have a practice spinnaker hoist before the race. Had some fun watching around 20 or more dolphins in the bay. Never seen so many together in Evans Bay before!
Race was delayed due to delay in getting the marks laid and eventually started at 1307 hrs. Wind was very light southerly between 0-5 kts. On the downwind stretch we hoisted our lightweight spinnaker down to the No. 3 mark.
On the second lap the wind changed to a northerly (as predicted) and on the last lap back to the Finish line we flew the Genoa Goose-winged.
Murray jump shipped into the support boat and we motor-sailed back home arriving at Chaffers Marina at 1530 hrs.
Great day out sailing with great crew!
